Yahoo! This was the best Thing yet! I really enjoyed being able to design things. I chose to use Netvibe. I found the application user friendly, in general. I struggled a bit with adding my Google calendar but after some playing around I got it to work. There wasn't an RSS feed so I pasted the "embedded URL" in the Widget. (Just in case someone else is struggling.) I played around with some page designs and color schemes. I only wish I could change fonts but I am font obsessed!
I have to admit I am a bit overwhelmed in the sense that I'm not sure how I feel about this compared to Google Reader. It seems that it could almost replace Google Reader since you can import any RSS feed here instead. Does anyone have a reason you would use Reader instead? Am I missing something?
I think the students would have a BLAST doing this! It would be most purposeful though in the US where they each have there own computer.
I did choose to make it one of my start up tabs but not the ONLY one. I still have the ASH faculty site, Moodle, and our Website Calendar as my other tabs. I felt I use them too often not tohave them readily available.
I hope the rest of the Things are as fun as this one! Check out my page below.

For me, going from Google Reader to Netvibes is like Dorthy going from boring black-and-white Kansas to technicolor Oz. Of course, silly Dorthy never ceased wanting to go home again. I'm sold on Netvibes.

I find value in both Google Reader and Netvibes. I can see using only Netvibes, but I like the no frills of Google Reader for keeping track of the blogs that I am following.
